Our New Septic System

Well, we are trying to get the new septic system finished. We started working on getting everything together (tank, pipe, gravel, backhoe, etc.) on Tuesday. We still don't have the gravel but we have to return the backhoe today so Frank is still digging. He dug last night until after 10:00 PM and it back at it again this morning, only it is raining today. He dug the big hole for the tank yesterday and we set the tank (cement about 7000 lbs.) in the hole last night. He also got most of the lateral lines dug last night. We should finish this "little" project by tomorrow.

Ever wonder why someone would decide they need a new septic system? Well....if you live in the country there is no city sewer system so homes have individual septic systems. Most are done with concrete tanks such as we are installing, some have been known to use other types of containers, especially if there is no rules or zoning where they live. Some of the other types that I have heard of are 55 gallon drums, small (500 - 1000 gallon) oil tanks that have been cleaned out, but the old we have here is a new one for me...........four big tractor tires stacked on top of each other with railroad ties across the top for the lid! Talk about American ingenuity! It did work for about 11 years and then the ties rotted and fell in. Needless to say the results are not pleasant smelling! As soon as we get the new system finished, we are going to be right uptown with our modern stuff.

Anyway, I did get to operate the backhoe a little last night. That was cool! It has all kinds of levers and buttons and gizmos and you can make the digging bucket go up and down, sideways and all sorts of cool things!

Do you think there is something missing in my life if I can get this excited over a new septic system? How many wives get to say their husband has given them a new septic system? Told you my husband is awesome! Well, all for now. Boys, Nanny loves you and the next blog will be all about you!

My Other "Storys"

I left a message for one of my "Storys" on my first blog so I will now leave messages for my two other "Storys" this time. One is Frankie and the other is Meredith.

Frankie is my son. He is the middle child and has a serious case of Peter Pan Syndrome. He really is a good son, he just doesn't like to be an adult. I love him with all my heart and worry about him. I just wish he would stop riding bulls! He has broken the same leg three times and the third time had to have a metal rod put in his thigh. He has also had his face smashed, part of an ear torn off, broken arm and untold busted lips, cut, bruises and knocks on the head. His dream is to win the National Championship in some circuit, but at 34 pushin' 35, I just don't see it happenin'. He is the father to four children, two girls and two boys, but they don't live with him. All of that is a story by its self. He is on his third marriage with two step-children. I guess my main problem is I still think of him as my little boy. He is definitely a very unique "Story".

My other "Story" isn't a Story anymore. Meredith has been married to a wonderful man, Chad, for 14 years now and is the momma to four great boys and is expecting number five (hopefully our girl). She is my special baby, the one I didn't think that I would have and at times I have wondered why I didn't leave well enough alone! Mere is an awesome mother and a very good wife. Of course, her sweet, sweet husband makes being a good wife very easy. She is the reason I KNOW that God has a sense of humor.

I have been very lucky to have the three wonderful people for children that I have. We have had our ups and downs, love-hate times and all the other good and bad times that families have but in the end we all love each other, not always like each other, but always love each other. We definitely try to pull together and be there for one another when it really counts. I love all three of my children and think that they are some the best people I have ever met. Oh yeah, their father did have a little bit to do with the wonderful people they are, guess I better give him some credit. (He is awesome!!)

My First Time

Got your attention? This is my first "blog". Laura has set this up for me so I will give it a try.

Let me explain the name: A long, long time ago in the fall of 1969 a little "Robbins" married a "Story" and a "Robbins' Story" began. We were blessed? with three little Storys that are still writing their story. Two are no longer "Storys" but the tale still continues, the other one is will always be a Story, not sure it is worth reading all the time but a Story all the same.

Laura, thank you. Being your Momma is the best job I will ever have. You have always been a wonderful joy in my life, even when we don't like each other. Anyone out there that knows Laura knows the good person that she is and I am very lucky that she chose me for her Momma. Robert is very lucky that she became a "SchuckyDucky". Now that is a "Story" in itself.

Okay, not to bad for the first time. I will tell the story of our new septic system at another time. If a new septic system if big news in your life, not a whole lot going on!!
